The Premium Cassava Products Division (PCPD) of FMN Agro partnered with the Federal Government to mark the 2025 World Cassava Day in Abuja.
The event, themed “Farm to Global Markets: Driving Industrialisation, Food Security and Exports,” aimed to explore the opportunities in Nigeria’s cassava industry for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), job creation, and export growth.

The Office of the Senior Assistant to the President on Agribusiness and Productivity Enhancement led the event, which brought together stakeholders from across the agricultural value chain. Discussions focused on how Nigeria, the world’s largest cassava producer, can transition from raw production to value-added processing and exports.
Platform for SMEs and startups
The event featured the Cassava Changemakers Pitch Competition, where startups and youth-led SMEs presented innovations, including farming tools and processed food products. The platform provided opportunities for collaboration and investment, enabling participants to explore ways to scale their solutions.

FMN Agro, part of the Golden Penny brand, reiterated its commitment to building an integrated cassava industry. The company presented strategies for agribusinesses to reduce reliance on imported materials by focusing on local cassava production.
Public-private collaboration for growth
Akhanemeh Osikhena, General Manager of PCPD, stressed the importance of moving cassava production from subsistence farming to an industrial-scale value chain. FMN Agro, through PCPD and Golden Agri Inputs Limited (GAIL), is investing in farmer training, input supply, and improved market access.
