MTN Foundation supports 40 student entrepreneurs through innovation challenge 2025

MTN Foundation has launched the Student Innovation Challenge, selecting 40 undergraduate entrepreneurs for mentorship and business development. The initiative focuses on providing training and support to students with innovative solutions in key economic sectors.

Ms Nonny Ugboma, Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation, emphasised the importance of innovation and problem-solving, stating: “The Student Innovation Challenge is not just a fantastic initiative, but a timely reminder to us all that challenges are ours to own, understand and sort out. That our people are ours to care for, nurture and empower. That our future is ours to take, mould and rebirth.”

Programme overview

The challenge targets solutions in agricultural innovation, power solutions, and waste management systems. Participants include university and polytechnic students from various institutions with an innovation-driven mindset.

Programme structure

The initiative includes a boot camp where participants receive mentorship, business assessment classes, and enterprise development training. After an initial shortlisting of 40 candidates, participants present their ideas to an expert panel. Six finalists are then selected through a ballot system.

Winner spotlight

David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi emerged as the winner with his innovation, the eco-E product. His project focuses on recycling fruits and kitchen waste, addressing waste management challenges. His selection was based on the quality of his innovation and presentation.
