The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) have reinforced efforts to enhance industrial development in Nigeria, with a focus on empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
At a strategic engagement held this week, leaders from both organisations emphasised that SMEs would be central beneficiaries of initiatives aimed at expanding trade, investment, and manufacturing opportunities arising from strengthened Nigeria–China economic cooperation. The meeting focused on aligning institutional strategies to improve trade facilitation, investment flows, and industrial growth while ensuring SMEs can integrate into emerging value chains.

Strategic framework for enterprise growth
NCSP Director‑General Joseph Tegbe highlighted that the partnership’s framework would support trade expansion, agro-processing value addition, technical skills development, and the creation of industrial clusters. These clusters are expected to enable local enterprises to scale production and access export markets effectively. Both NCSP and NACCIMA stressed the importance of coordinated policy implementation and collaboration with government stakeholders to achieve tangible outcomes for SMEs.
NACCIMA leadership underlined that structured support — including investment facilitation, policy consistency, and improved market access — is crucial to Nigeria’s industrial transformation. The partnership also plans to leverage tariff-free arrangements with African trade partners, providing SMEs with opportunities to expand exports and strengthen competitive capacity.

Implications for SMEs
The collaboration is expected to boost export-oriented production, deepen manufacturing capacity, and widen market access opportunities, particularly for firms in agro-processing, manufacturing, and trade services. Analysts say the initiative highlights the increasing recognition that strategic bilateral cooperation can accelerate enterprise growth and job creation in Nigeria’s private sector.
By integrating SMEs into broader industrial frameworks, the NCSP–NACCIMA alliance could increase productivity, stimulate investment, and contribute to economic diversification. The partnership reflects a shift towards inclusive industrial policy where small and medium enterprises are positioned as active drivers of national growth.
