…Strategic dialogue to open new investment channels
Nigeria is set to sign more than 30 new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Brazil during the second session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), scheduled to take place from June 23 to 25, 2025. The agreements aim to boost cooperation in trade, agribusiness, energy, digital innovation, defence, and the creative economy.
The Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hassan-Hadejia, said the SDM aligns with President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and is focused on expanding opportunities for Nigerian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Business forum to strengthen bilateral ties
Brazil’s Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, will lead a business and government delegation to Nigeria. A major highlight of the visit is the Nigeria-Brazil Business Forum, holding on June 23. The forum is expected to connect public and private sector leaders from both countries, representing a shared market of over 400 million people.
Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Trade and Investment, confirmed that the event will launch a “Digital Trade Room” to promote deal-making, especially in fintech. She said Brazil’s digital inclusion efforts align with Nigeria’s growing technology ecosystem.

Agriculture and creative economy in focus
The partnership will also strengthen Nigeria’s $4.5 billion Green Imperative Programme, focusing on animal genetics, soybean production, and mechanised farming. Other MoUs will cover areas such as healthcare, research, defence, and cultural exchange.
Hajiya Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Creative Economy, stated that the deals will support joint Afro-Atlantic tourism and arts projects. She noted the agreements will create global exposure for Nigerian creatives.

Local participation encouraged
The federal government said Brazilian delegates will visit states including Lagos, Edo, Plateau, and Kebbi. Local SMEs and agribusinesses will have the chance to engage directly with investors during the three-day event. The SDM is coordinated by the Office of the Vice President.
