Nigeria’s FG to reward MSMEs with N220m in prizes

The Federal Government has announced that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria will have the opportunity to compete for prizes worth over N220 million in the 7th National MSMEs Award. The registration portal will be open from 7 March to 7 April 2025 for all eligible businesses.

Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Job Creation and MSMEs, made this known during a press briefing on Monday. He stated that the government remains committed to empowering small businesses in Nigeria.

Prizes and special categories

Adekunle-Johnson outlined the prizes to be awarded, stating, “This year, winners will receive shops, stores, cars, and cash prizes, while the overall winner will take home a house, store, car, and N20 million in cash.”

He also noted that persons with disabilities (PWDs) will have a dedicated category in the awards to ensure inclusivity and equal opportunity.

Award categories and oversight

The awards will recognise businesses across ten categories. A screening committee will oversee the selection process, ensuring credibility and transparency. The committee includes representatives from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), and the Bank of Industry (BOI).

The initiative aims to support and reward MSMEs contributing to economic growth, innovation, and job creation across the country.
