Dangote recognised for business leadership and philanthropy in Africa

…Award presented in Lagos

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has been named the 2024 “African Business Icon of the Year” by Champion Newspapers. The award was presented at the organisation’s annual ceremony in Lagos.

Tunde Oladipo, Group Branding Lead at Dangote Industries, received the award on Dangote’s behalf.

Recognition for business and philanthropy

Dangote was recognised for his contributions to industrial growth and development across Africa. He also received the “Man of the Year” and “Global Business Icon” awards.

His foundation, endowed with $1.25 billion in 2014, continues to support health, education, and economic empowerment initiatives across the continent.

Other recipients

The event honoured 41 individuals and organisations. Zenith Bank was awarded “Bank of the Year”, UBA’s Oliver Alawuba received “Banker of the Year”, and NNPC’s Olufemi Soneye was named “Media Manager of the Year”.

Champion Newspapers said the awards recognise “integrity, excellence, and national impact”.
