Nigeria, UAE sign trade agreement to expand exports and investment flows

Nigeria has signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the United Arab Emirates aimed at strengthening trade relations and supporting investment.

The agreement was concluded during official engagements in Abu Dhabi. It outlines measures to reduce trade barriers and expand cooperation across key sectors.

Access to regional markets

Officials said the agreement will support export diversification beyond crude oil. The UAE serves as a gateway to Middle Eastern and North African markets.
Manufacturing, agro-processing and services are expected to benefit from improved access.

Support for small and medium enterprises

Business groups stated that clearer trade rules could reduce barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises. The agreement also addresses business travel and investor mobility.

Analysts noted that port efficiency, customs procedures and logistics systems will determine the impact.
Implementation committees will monitor progress. The agreement aligns with Nigeria’s goal of expanding its exports.
